Andrew turned to yoga in 2013 in order to heal from an injury that he sustained in his career of professional ballet dancing. At first, he believed that Yoga would add little value to his life beyond healing his knee. Andrew’s passion for yoga was not “love at first sight,” but developed through a slow process as he discovered that yoga truly is life-changing. After one more performance in the nutcracker, he hung up his slippers and turned his full attention to a sustainable yoga practice.
After a year of consistent yoga practice, he began teacher-training only for the purpose of better understanding his own practice. However, he soon was asked to teach at local YMCAs, where he still leads a class each week. Over time, requests for him continued to grow and he now teaches regularly at three locations, leads workshops, and often is asked to guest teach at other venues. Andrew truly cares about people, more than about poses. If you work with Andrew, or attend one of his classes, you will find him reminding you of three basic principles: (1) a yoga mat is a safe place, free of judgment or competition, (2) even if we have the ability to do a pose, we should only do it when we can do it safely, and (3) yoga is a life-long journey, so let’s have fun and enjoy it one practice at a time!
